Aussies win first ODI against India

Four wickets from WA quick Jhye Richardson has bowled Australia to victory by 34-runs in the first ODI against India.

Australia batted first and scored 5-288, Peter Handscomb top scored with 73 while Usman Khawaja (59) and Shaun Marsh (54) also posted half-centuries.

Marcus Stoinis finished 47 not out from 43 balls with some power hitting at the end of the innings that included two fours and two sixes.

India slumped to 3/4 in the chase after quick wickets from Richardson and fellow WA quick Jason Behrendorff (2-39).

A 137-run partnership between MS Dhoni (51) and Rohit Sharma (133) steadied the ship for the visitors.

Dhoni was wrong adjudged leg before wicket but India had no reviews left to challenge the decision.

Richardson claimed another two lower order wickets before Peter Siddle and Stoinis chipped in to leave India 9-254 at the conclusion of their 50 overs.

Game two is in Adelaide on Tuesday.
