The Dockers AFLW side has come from 14-points down at three-quarter time to defeat Melbourne by four-points.
It's the first time the Dockers have won an interstate game in seven attempts after securing the 9.5.59 to 8.7.55 victory.
Coach Trent Cooper promised before the season he wanted a more high scoring and more attacking style of footy.
“We were still confident at three-quarter time that we could score what we needed to." Cooper said.
“It was great from the girls, the belief that they had to do it."
“Even at three-quarter time the feeling was very positive and they delivered in the end.”
Gemma Houghton and Ashley Sharp booted two goals each while star midfielder Kiara Bowers was inspirational with 13-disposals, 12-tackles and a goal.
Bowers missed the opening two years of the competition due knee injuries.
