West Coast have shaken off a valiant Gold Coast Suns outfit to record a 25-point win at Optus Stadium.
The Suns opened up a seven-point lead early in the final term for the Eagles swung into action booting the final five goals of the match to secure the 12.11.83 to 8.10.58 triumph.
Oscar Allen booted a career high four goals while Dom Sheed shined in the absence of Elliott Yeo and Luke Shuey collecting 34 disposals.
Coach Adam Simpson heaping praise on Allen.
“Hopefully he is going to be a really good player for us for a long time. He’s got some great leaders around him to help him grow, and that transition will continue this year.” Simpson said.
As for the game itself Simpson believed the game was a real slog.
“I thought our maturity showed. The players went to another level. They elevated in the contest. Real basic stuff. We didn’t change anything really strategic.”
“The game is going to work itself out, it always does. The quicker we went the more it turned over. We worked through it.”
West Coast face the Western Bulldogs next, on Sunday in Melbourne.
