Eagles turn out lacklustre performance

The Eagles have missed a golden chance to climb to second spot on the ladder slumping to a 45-point loss over Sydney.

Missing skipper Shannon Hurn and ball winner Elliott Yeo West Coast have now lost nine straight at the SCG dating back to 1999.

Josh Kennedy booted three goals in the 18.8.116 to 10.11.71 loss while Liam Ryan and Willie Rioli both kicked two majors each.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said the hoodoo at the ground had nothing to do with the loss.

“It’s the second time it’s happened to us against Sydney here,” Simpson said.

“I think last year, we had 60 inside-50s and didn’t defend behind those either.

“It’s got nothing to do with the ground. I think it’s the way Sydney execute their plans.”

The Eagles now have a bye next weekend before returning to Thursday night football against the Bombers.
