Aussie rising tennis stars Alex De Minaur and Ash Barty have made history by sharing the John Newcombe Medal.
The judges were unable to spilt the prestigious honour for the first time in its nine-year history with Barty just the second behind Sam Stosur to win the award twice.
Just 22 years of age Barty won 46 singles matches including two title wins plus four doubles titles.
De Minaur is now ranked Australia's number one male tennis player now 31 in the world climbing from 208 at the beginning of the year.
"This is something I definitely did not expect. I'm super proud of my efforts," de Minaur said.
"If you put the work in off court, the work will show on court so it's all about day by day and enjoying the moment."
"I feel like the level's there."
