Marsh wants the ball more

Mitch Marsh is eager to contribute more to the Test team when the first match of the summer gets underway on Thursday.

The all-rounder wants to play a greater impact with the ball as he averages seven less overs per match in the past two years compared to the previous three years before that.

“I got some good overs under my belt the last couple of weeks for WA,” Marsh said.

“I really want to take my bowling to the next level ... to start chipping in with the ball and get a few more wickets.

“I love coming on in the graveyard shift, 70 to 80 overs when the ball’s doing nothing, and trying to sneak in a wicket.”

Marcus Harris is expected to make his debut opening the batting alongside Aaron Finch while Peter Handscomb is likely to miss out.
