The Perth Wildcats have held onto an 88-83 win after overtime in Saturday's clash against Cairns.
The Taipans converted a four-point play in the dying seconds of the match to send the game into a deciding period.
Perth were too strong in extra time earning themselves a fifth straight win and a commanding 8-1 season record.
Bryce Cotton was enormous scoring 26-points while Nick Kay and Mitch Norton scored 18-points each.
Norton said post-game he was really proud of the group.
"This group really comes together. We've got a few soldiers down but I'm really proud of this effort," Norton said.
"When you have someone like Bryce who attracts so much attention, and some shooters in the four spot like Nick and Jesse who are great screeners as well, it makes my job a little bit easier."
Perth now face a double-header against New Zealand starting on Friday in Auckland.
