Wildcats season put on hold

The Wildcats season openers at RAC Arena has been scrapped after the NBL was forced to re-think the schedule.

Games will be played in Queensland and South Australia with the Wildcats returning home to Perth from Brisbane on Saturday after playing a practise match against the Brisbane Bullets on Wednesday.

The WA Government granted permission for the team to return back to WA.

Perth will not feature in the opening round and the matches set for the opening round in Perth have been rescheduled.

The Wildcats were due to play Melbourne and New Zealand at home in the opening fortnight.

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger was glad the competition would still be able to start next weekend.

“We will start the season in Cairns and Adelaide, but we will continue to monitor the situation in Brisbane in the hope we can also host a game there in he opening round. We will continue to stay flexible and be guided by the relevant state health authorities but our intention is still for all teams to play 14 home games across the season when they are able to do so."

Round two fixtures will be revealed in due course.
