It was also the day that Y-Front briefs went on sale for the first time in 1935, the Beach Boys put down the vocal tracks for Help Me Rhonda in 1965, Volkswagen Beetles ceased production in Germany in 1978, Denny Doherty, the Canadian born singer with The Mamas and the Papas died aged 66 in 2007, John Stewart, US singer with Kingston Trio died aged 68 in 2008, and Vegemite once again became Australian owned after Bega Cheese agreed to buy the spread and other well-known brands for $460 million in 2017!!
