The historic Hope & Anchor Tavern opened in Tasmania in 1807, Steam Locomotives were first demonstrated in 1814, Louis Bleriot was the first man to fly an airplane across the English Channel in 1909, Voting was made compulsory in Australian Federal Elections in 1924, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis performed as a comedy duo for the first time in 1946, Neil Young joined Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1969, Murdoch University was established in Perth in 1973, A Chorus Line opened on Broadway in 1975, the world's first test tube baby, Louise Brown was born in England in 1978, G. J. Coles bought out the Myer Emporium and it became Coles Myer Ltd., and we lost US Country singer Charlie Rich aged 62 in 1995, Australian musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu aged 46 in 2017, and founder of Fleetwood Mack, UK guitarist Peter Green, at the age of 73 in 2020.
