On This Day... the Louvre Museum opened in Paris, France in 1793, the Smithsonian Institution was established in Washington DC in 1846, BHP was registered in 1885, The First Royal Automobile Club was formed (RAC) in 1897, the first David Cup was won by the American team in 1900, the Princes Highway linking Sydney and Lembourne officially opened at Warragul in 1970, Mr. Tickle - the first book int he Mr. Men series - by Roger Hargreaves, was published in 1971, ABBA's Mamma Mia music video aired in Australia on ABC TV's Countdown in 1975 Nicolas Cage married Lisa Marie Presley in Hawaii in 2002, and Parkes Observatory (also known as The Dish) was added to the National Heritage List in 2020.
