Perth (named after the town in Scotland) was 'founded' by Sir James Stirling in 1829, Isaac Singer was granted a patent for his Sewing Machine in 1851, Thomas Edison made the first sound recording when he recited Mary Had a Little Lamb which he recorded on a phonograph in 1877, the first Model T Ford was manufactured in the US in 1908, Ovaltine (drink powder) was registered in Australia in 1908, Days of Our Lives began on Aussie TV in 1968, IBM introduced their first PC will Bill Gates MS-DOS version 1:0 operating system in 1981 and Christie Allen, the Australian singer passed away aged 55 in 2009.
