Police are on the hunt for a possible arsonist after a car fire ignited a dangerous blaze in Mandurah's east.
The fire was issued as an emergency warning to residents in Nambeelup on Wednesday night, threatening lives and homes and forcing residents to evacuate.
It burnt through 72 hectares and was contained and under control by Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters remain at the site to patrol the area, establish containment lines and extinguish isolated flare ups.
WA Police's arsonist team are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
