The new-look arts festival in Mandurah is set to launch on Saturday.
The Mandurah Arts Festival will run for the first three weeks of November, sharing stories of its people through visual arts, film, music, dance, performance and spoken word.
After 20 years as the iconic the Stretch Arts Festival, the event is sporting a new name, format and time of year.
There will be more than 15 small and larger-scale projects at different locations around the city.
Some of Mandurah's most popular and recognisable spots will host bigger events, including the launch of a large-scale photographic exhibition on the Mandurah Bridge.
A music event will wrap up the festival at Keith Holmes Reserve as a way for local musicians to perform.
Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said the festival is working closely with dozens of people to shine a light on Mandurah's cultural and environmental stories.
“The new Mandurah Arts Festival will transport us to new lands and states of mind, bringing people to share and delight in our Mandjoogoordap, our meeting place of the heart,” Mayor Rhys Williams said.
“This is an experimental festival, from the format to the content and even the audience – we want people who wouldn’t normally come to an arts event to feel they are an integral a part of the Mandurah Arts Festival.
“We are starting small to give the festival the opportunity to grow organically with community at its heart.”
The event will run from November 2 to 17, 2019.
