If you've been thinking about going whale watching, now's the perfect time to start planning!

Western Australia is one of the best places in the world to see these gentle giants, with the migration running from May right through to early December.

Around Augusta, Busselton and Albany, whales can be spotted from May to October as they head north, then again from September to December on the return journey.

Up north at Ningaloo Reef, humpback whales arrive from June to November, while if you've always wanted to swim alongside the world's biggest fish – the whale shark – that's best from April to July.

And here's one for the bucket list... just off Perth, the Perth Canyon is one of the few places on Earth where you can see endangered blue whales, with tours running from March to May.

So, grab the binoculars... whale season in WA is one of nature's greatest shows! 🐳
