Today is World Environment Day, and here's something that might make you think twice before tossing something in the bin...
The average plastic bottle can take around 450 years to break down in the environment. That's longer than Australia has even existed as a country!
World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 and is the biggest environmental awareness day on the planet, with millions of people taking part across more than 150 countries.
The idea isn't that everyone has to save the world overnight. It's about small changes that add up. Things like using a reusable water bottle, planting a tree, picking up litter at the beach, or even walking instead of jumping in the car.
This year's focus is climate action, because the Earth is already showing signs of stress through rising temperatures, stronger storms and melting glaciers.
So here's the challenge: if every person listening today made just one small environmentally-friendly choice, imagine how big that impact could be.
After all, we don't need a handful of people doing sustainability perfectly... we need millions doing it imperfectly.
