Australia is saying goodbye to one of the true characters of our media landscape today... Derryn Hinch has passed away at the age of 82.
Known as "The Human Headline," Hinch's career spanned more than 60 years across newspapers, radio, television and, later, politics.
He was fearless, outspoken and often controversial, never afraid to ask the tough questions or challenge the status quo. He also became a passionate advocate for victims' rights and child protection, campaigning for legal reforms he believed would make Australia safer.
Hinch served as a Victorian senator from 2016 to 2019 and remained a prominent voice in public life despite ongoing health battles.
Whether you agreed with him or not, his impact on Australian media is undeniable, and today tributes are flowing from colleagues, politicians and listeners across the country.
