Best known for his role as Dr. Mark 'McSteamy' Sloan on 'Grey's Anatomy'.
Actor Eric Dane, best known for playing Dr Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and more recently starring in HBO’s Euphoria, has passed away at the age of 53 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
Dane gained worldwide recognition through his role on Grey’s Anatomy and later received renewed critical praise as Cal Jacobs, the complex and troubled father figure in Euphoria.
In a statement, his family said he passed away peacefully on February 19, surrounded by loved ones, including his wife and daughters, Billie and Georgia, who they described as the centre of his life.
They also shared that during his illness, Dane became a strong advocate for ALS awareness and research, hoping to help others facing the disease. The family thanked fans for their ongoing support and has requested privacy as they grieve his loss.
Vale, Eric Dane... you'll always be our McSteamy.
