Six local community and sporting groups will share in more than $18,000 through the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale's General Grants Program.
General Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded to registered not-for-profit organisations and incorporated community groups to provide direct financial assistance towards initiatives which promote a sense of community and help residents stay healthy, active and connected.
This round of grants were awarded to six local programs including Byford Baptist Church Inc who will receive $2207.70 in funding to purchase equipment to assist operations and delivery of the Free Food Market.
Byford Bushrangers Inc, Business SJ, Centre Point Church, Serpentine Jarrahdale Men's Shed and the SJ Serpents Rugby League and Sports Club will also named as recipients to share in the programs funding.
Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said the Shire looked forward to seeing the initiatives being delivered over the coming months.
“The Shire is committed to helping our local sporting clubs and community groups so that they can continue to deliver programs and events for the benefit of their members and our wider community,” she said.
“As we continue our local recovery from COVID-19, the six successful initiatives shows how we are providing support for those in our community who are doing it tough, while also bringing our community back together through sports and events.”
Round 2 of the Shire’s General Grant Program is now open and applications close 5pm, Monday, November 9.
