A severe thunderstorm warning has been cancelled for parts of the Lower West and South West including Mandurah and Bunbury.
The Bureau of Meteorology initially issued the warning early on Friday morning due to a risk of damaging winds.
Bureau meteorologist Jessica Lingard said there is no longer a risk of damaging winds but rain will continue throughout the weekend.
"This morning we did have a severe thunderstorm warning out for damaging wind gusts throughout the Mandurah area, that has now been cancelled," she told West Coast Radio.
"We issued that because there were some storms sitting just off the coastline and we were a bit worried they were going to move ashore and bring with them some damaging wind gusts, but thankfully they have dissipated."
Ms Lingard said a low pressure system will move through the South West of the state later on Friday bringing more thunderstorms and gusty winds into the evening and overnight.
"We are in for a bit of a wet weekend, and in fact there is a second system that comes through early next week that will prolong the rainfall through much of the week."
