A southern suburbs electrician has claimed a $1.8 million Lotto win.
The man and his wife were five hours out of Perth on a work trip when he got an email from Lotterywest asking him to get in contact with them.
“I thought it was a bit weird to be honest,” the man said.
“The Lotterywest person calmly said, ‘do you know why we contacted you?’ and I said, ‘no, unless I’ve won a bit of money'.”
On learning that he had won Division One of the June 20 Saturday Lotto Superdraw, the couple, who are in their 50s, first contacted their family, then started the long drive back to Perth.
“We Facetimed the kids, but then we realised we didn’t know how much we had won, so my daughter looked it up and we all found out together that it was $1.8 million,” he said.
“That was a really nice thing to share together.”
Three generations of the family piled into the Lotterywest Winners Room and were already discussing how to enjoy the winnings, with one of his adult children pushing for a family boat.
“I don’t know about that, but we will be going on a holiday to Alaska – that’s been on our bucket list for years,” the man said.
His wife, who also works in their business, said it was a holiday well earned.
“If anyone deserves to win, it’s him. He’s a really hard worker,” she said.
The player bought his Slikpik 25 through Lotterywest Play Online.
