Today is April Fools Day - but where did it originate?!

So... where did April Fools originate? Turns out, no one actually knows where it started… which feels very on brand, right?
One popular theory goes back to 16th-century France, when King Charles the Ninth shifted New Year’s Day to January 1.
Anyone still celebrating in late March or early April? Yep - labelled the fools.
Others say it’s all about spring... the season itself is unpredictable. Sunshine one minute, chaos the next… basically the original prankster.
The French still celebrate with “April Fish”- sticking paper fish on people’s backs without them noticing… very primary school energy, but I respect it.
The Scots used to stretch it out over TWO days - one for general fooling, the second for backside pranks… which honestly explains a lot.
And if you’re planning a prank today - do it before midday. After that, tradition says… the joke’s on you.
But remember - an April Fool's Joke should be something that makes someone laugh - not bring them to tears.
Happy April Fools!
