Our Mandurah bridge will be lit up in Purple on 24th October raising awareness for Rotary World End Polio day
✔️World Polio Day is observed annually on 24th October to raise awareness to eradicate polio worldwide. ✔️
✔️Rotary, a key partner in the global polio eradication initiative, has significantly reduced polio cases and seeks to eliminate the disease entirely, as it remains a threat as long as it exists anywhere. ✔️
✔️Eradication efforts have reduced polio cases by 99.9%. Despite progress, polio is still endemic in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and continued global commitment is necessary to prevent its resurgence. . ✔️
✔️2 years ago our very own Mandurah bridge lit up in purple (see picture attached), a direct link to the specific action of applying purple dye to children’s fingers, a tradition that shows they have received their polio vaccination. ✔️
✔️To raise awareness our bridge will light up from sunset to sundown on 24 th October. ✔️
✔️Pop down to Hall Park, Mandurah Terrace or the eastern foreshore to appreciate the beauty of our bridge alight to:
