Aussie's Catherine Laga'aia has been cast as Moana in the upcoming live-action remake!

Disney’s live-action Moana has found its new leading lady… Catherine Laga’aia !!

And yes, she is New Zealand/Aussie actor Jay Laga’aia’s daughter.

Catherine has had all her Disney dreams come true and will star opposite Dwayne -The Rock - Johnson who is back as the demigod Maui.

The 17-year-old expressed her excitement in a statement released by Disney studio, saying, “ Moana is one of my favourites …” and that the role was especially personal due to her family ties!!

Moana is set to begin filming in July for a 2026 release.
