More details have been uncovered regarding a 12-year-old girl who gave birth last week.
It was been revealed by The West Australian that the 14-year-old father of the child was the girls' step-brother.
The young mother gave birth at home last Saturday before being rushed Peel Health Campus.
She told staff there she didn't know she was pregnant.
She was then transferred to King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth with a healthy baby.
The girl has since been discharged.
Extended family are said to be devastated by the turn in events, and it is unclear whether the two were living together at the time.
Police investigations are ongoing; primarily focused around welfare concerns.
Although neither child was of the age of consent, it is unlikely that charges will be laid.
