A taste of the Fairbridge Festival is coming to Pinjarra during the September long weekend.
The Folkworld Pinjarra Community Festival, supported by the Shire of Murray and Alcoa, is an upbeat, family-friendly event to be held at the Pinjarra Civic Centre on Saturday, September 23 from 6.30pm.
Offering a unique sample of global folk, world and roots music, the concert features lively Spanish act El Pony Pisador on tour from Barcelona, and indie-folk band Sunny Day, led by local ‘WAM Song of the Year’ award-winning singer-songwriter Brooke Bugeja.
Brooke has significant ties to the local community and teaches song writing skills to Pinjarra Senior High School students, along with fellow former Fairbridge Festival Quest winning songwriter Lachy John.

Fairbridge Festival Artistic Director Jon Cope said this is the perfect opportunity to introduce the Festival to the local community.
“El Pony Pisador is a Spanish bluegrass-Celtic-shanty act that has a contagious energy and irrepressible humour, while Sunny Day is a beautiful blend of upbeat indie tunes and honest storytelling,” Mr Cope said.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing the exciting show these two incredible bands will put on for the local community,” he said.
Shire President Councillor David Bolt said events like these play a critical role in making the Murray Region a great place to live, work and visit.
“We are thrilled to have the Fairbridge Festival come to Pinjarra next April and this family-friendly community concert will give a snapshot of what’s to come,” Councillor Bolt said
“Head to Pinjarra and enjoy a beautiful evening celebrating folk, world and roots music with some incredible local and international talent,” he said.
