Anzac Day commemorations will return to Mundijong this year, with the War Memorial on Paterson Street set to host a series of services on April 25.
Residents are invited to pay their respects to those who have served our country in times of war, commencing with a dawn service and gunfire breakfast held by the Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL sub-branch.
A processional march and traditional commemorative service hosted by the Shire will then follow, wrapping up with a morning tea at 10am.
Anzac Day 2023 schedule:
5.50am – Dawn Service
6.30am – Gunfire Breakfast
8.30am – Processional March (form up)
9am – Commemorative Service
10am – Morning Tea
Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale President Cr Michelle Rich said Anzac Day was a time to reflect on the brave sacrifices made by those in service and their families.
“Anzac Day is a time for us to come together as a community and honour those who have given their lives to defend our freedom,” Cr Rich said.
“The Shire is pleased to be working alongside the Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL to deliver these local services, and we invite all SJ residents to join us at our commemorations in Mundijong.”
The commemorative service will be accompanied by Heritage Country Choir and Armadale Concert Band.
It will also feature a traditional wreath-laying ceremony, where members of the public will have the chance to lay their own wreaths.
