The community is invited to join all Service and Ex-Service Personnel at ANZAC Day commemorations in the Shire of Waroona on April 25.
Starting at 6.15am, a Dawn Service will be held at the Waroona War Memorial, located on the corner of South Western Highway and Parnell Street.
The Dawn Service will be followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Waroona Memorial Hall.
The breakfast will be prepared and cooked by the Waroona Lions and is offered free-of-charge to all residents who wish to enjoy camaraderie with the Veteran community.
At 10.45am, the ANZAC Day Parade commences from the Waroona Memorial Hall to the Waroona War Memorial.
The Service March is open to all Service and Ex-Service Personnel and will be accompanied by the WA 10th Light Horse Organisation (Harvey Troop).
Traffic on South Western Highway will be closed from 10am to 12:30pm to allow the commemorations to proceed with respect and safety.
Once assembled at the Waroona War Memorial, the ANZAC Day Service will commence from around 11am.
Following the commemorative events, the Waroona Bowling Club will be offering ANZAC day activities and refreshments for Veterans.
Elsewhere in the Shire, the Lake Clifton-Herron Residents Association will be having an ANZAC Day ceremony at 10am at the Lake Clifton Community Hall, which will be followed by a complimentary morning tea.
In Preston Beach, residents can join the Preston Beach Progress Association at the Preston Beach Community Centre for an ANZAC Day service at 11am, followed by lunch.
Shire President Mike Walmsley said the Shire was honoured to deliver the Waroona ANZAC Day event, and support the Lake Clifton and Preston Beach events, in the absence of an RSL Sub-Branch.
“On ANZAC Day we express our gratitude and remember those who served and sacrificed for us. We invite the community to embrace the spirit of ANZAC and join with us at one of the four services being held across the Shire,” Cr Walmsley said.
The Waroona ANZAC Day commemorations have been supported by RSLWA and made possible through funding by Lotterywest.
