ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Dawesville

Dawesville War Memorial.

An ANZAC Day Dawn Service will take place at the Dawesville War Memorial, Estuary Drive, Foreshore Reserve at 6am on April 25.

Traditionally, the Dawn Service is a reverential commemoration of all Australian and New Zealand service personnel, who have made the ultimate sacrifice in all conflicts.

Prior to the commencement of the service, flags will be at half-mast and a 10-minute silence period will be observed.

In addition to invited guests, members of the public are encouraged to lay wreaths.

The Service is organised by members of the Dawesville RSL Sub Branch, with assistance from the community.

TS Mandurah Navy Cadets will provide a catafalque party, while First Falcon Scouts will conduct an overnight vigil at the Memorial prior to the service.

"We are pleased to be able to once again invite all members of the public to the Dawn Service," Dawesville RSL President Michael Watson said.

Commemorations this year include the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli, the 50th Anniversary of the end of Australia’s Vietnam War involvement (1973), the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice (1953) and 80th Anniversary of the Dam Busters Operation.

At the conclusion of the service attendees are invited to attend a Gunfire Breakfast.
