Police are hunting a suspected arsonist after a series of bushfires broke out near the Pinjarra Caravan Park over the space of a week.

The first blaze started on Christmas Eve in bushland near Pinjarra Road before it flared up again on December 29.

Firefighters were called out again on New Year's Eve after two fires sparked up within an hour of each other.

Pinjarra Caravan Park resident Pamela Jones told 7News, it has been an extremely frightening week.

“Someone yelled fire and I went out and saw the backyard on fire,” she said.

“I have a very, very dear friend who is 85 next month, who is totally deaf, and if the fire had gotten near his place he wouldn’t be here today. It is very scary to know that someone would do this.”

Park Manager Josh Thompson told 7News, they believe they have caught the suspected arsonist on their CCTV but police are yet to make any arrests.

“In a situation like this when you’ve got a hundred people fearing for their lives because someone’s tried setting it on fire four times in a week - I’d say the process needs to be sped up a bit,” he said.

The Arson Squad are investigating.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
