The final concept plan for the Baldivis Outdoor Recreation Space has been given the green light by the City of Rockingham.
Following extensive community consultation the design of this space will incorporate a range of features such as a nature playground, skate park, adventure play areas and an activity challenge course.
The space will be overlooked by the café that is proposed at the Baldivis Indoor Recreation Centre.
With a combined area of about 2000sqm, the outdoor space will provide an attraction for families and youth of all ages.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said the Baldivis Outdoor Recreation Space was a key project identified in the City’s Community Infrastructure Plan.
“The Baldivis Outdoor Recreation Space will be a vital project that fulfils the City’s Strategic Community Plan aspirations of growing and nurturing community connectedness and wellbeing, and planning for future generations,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“Consultation with the community has played a vital role in shaping the final concept plan. In the early stages we conducted an online survey which drew 266 responses, and also hosted several design workshops with four local schools, the City’s Skate Park Reference Group, and a Community Evening Design Workshop at Mary Davies Library and Community Centre.
“Preliminary and draft concept plans were open for public comment on Share Your Thoughts, and thanks to the feedback provided by our stakeholders we’ve been able to integrate the elements that our community wanted into the final concept plan.”
With the final concept plan now endorsed, the City will now start detailed design on the project.
