Bomb Response officers and the Australian Defence Force have blown up a marine flare that washed up onto a Madora Bay beach.
The flare was discovered on the shore around 9.30am on Monday at the end of Tranby Street.
Several locals reported hearing a loud bang followed by a black plume of smoke.
