A universal quokka birthday will be held each September to celebrate the much loved West Australian icon.
This year, Rottnest Island has opened invites to the public to celebrate the world's happiest animal at its birthday on Sunday September 15.
For the celebrations, there is free travel and Island admission for children under 13 and adult return ferry tickets from $50, from Friday September 13 to Sunday September 15.
There will also be discounted accommodation, with prices starting from $229 for a two-bedroom unit which can sleep up to 6 people.
Tourism Minister Paul Papalia is encouraging as many families as possible to take advantage of the travel deals.
"The McGowan Government is committed to ensuring our popular tourist destinations such as Rottnest Island continue to be enjoyed by local people," Minister Papalia said.
"Apart from celebrating the Quokka we also want families to learn about this unique animal and its native environment which make Rottnest Island a tourism destination of national significance."
It will be the perfect time of year to see the baby joeys emerging from the pouch, making a great day out for families to learn more about the quokkas.
There will also be free activities offered including walking tours, a quokka detective scavenger hunt, movie screening, tips on how to take the perfect quokka selfie and the opportunity to learn more about quokkas from experts.
