The City of Rockingham's environmental health team has been recognised as the best in Western Australia.
The City secured the Environmental Health Local Government Team of the Year Award at the 2022 Environmental Health Australia WA conference held at the Pan Pacific last month.
The team is responsible for a variety of functions including monitoring air, water and food quality standards in the community, assessing safe standards of housing and public buildings, and reducing exposure to environmental hazards.
In addition to the team’s recognition, Environmental Health Officer (EHO) Hannah McDonald won the Undergraduate Award at the conference, while EHO Danielle Windisch also won the Post-Graduate Award.
City of Rockingham Chief Executive Michael Parker said the awards were welcome recognition for a team dedicated to providing outstanding service to the community.
“These awards acknowledge teams that go above and beyond the normal expectations in the environmental health sector, and also for their service to the industry,” Mr Parker said.
“We are extremely proud of the Environmental Health team, and of Hannah and Danielle for their individual awards.
“A particular highlight noted when receiving the award was the team’s successful food education program, which is tailored for individual food premises. The program helps to increase a business’s understanding of food safety and their compliance with regulations.
“To receive both team and individual accolades is a ringing endorsement of the team’s efforts, and the City thanks Environmental Health Australia WA for the acknowledgement.”
