City of Rockingham's playgrounds, skate parks and enclosed dog parks closed

Following the latest restrictions outlined by the Australian Government and the State Government over the weekend, the City of Rockingham will immediately close playgrounds and skate parks across the community to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

The closures will impact all playgrounds that are under City control, with signage to be posted outside parks informing residents of the new restrictions. The City’s skate parks will be included in the closures and Veterans Memorial Park public toilets will also be closed to assist with the closure of Port Kennedy Skate Park.

The City’s two enclosed dog parks in Rockingham and Baldivis will be closed. Outdoor fitness equipment in City parks and reserves is also closed.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged the community to observe the latest restrictions outlined by the Australian and State Government.

“The health and safety of our community is paramount and the City has moved swiftly to ensure that all of the additional facilities outlined in the latest restrictions by the Australian and State Government are closed,” Mayor Sammels said.

“Given the circumstances, we urge the community not to use these spaces and to continue to observe social distancing.

“The City thanks the community for their understanding during this rapidly evolving and difficult time. Your resilience and commitment to social distancing is playing a vital role in keeping the wider community safe and by continuing to work together, we can flatten the curve.”

The latest changes follow a series of closures that occurred last week, which included all City community and leisure facilities, as well as the City’s Administration Building.
