Customers have raised around $6000 for the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia to help drought-affected farmers.
In just two months Coles and its customers have contributed more than $459,000 to the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia to help drought affected farmers.
Coles matched every donation dollar for dollar during August and September, with customers helping to raise more than $ 7,171,400 million nationally for the CWA to help drought affected communities with household and family expenses.
The Country Women’s Association of WA President Heather Allen thanked Coles and its customers for their generous contribution which will go towards supporting drought-affected families .
“For over 94 years the CWA of WA has had the pleasure of supporting our Western Australian community in good times and bad," she said.
"We are extremely pleased to act as a conduit to see funds donated by Coles customers and Coles itself reach those who need them most,”she said.
Coles State General Manager Pat Zanetti said Coles was overwhelmed by the generosity of local shoppers across Western Australia who showed their support for Australian farming communities by donating at Coles checkouts.
“We are incredibly grateful for this tremendous contribution from our customers and team members who have gone above and beyond to raise funds for the CWA drought appeal,” he said.
“Many of our WA store teams hosted bake sales, dress up days and collected food donations which went towards preparing hampers for local families impacted by the drought.
“Thanks to their generous donations and fundraising efforts, more than $459,000 will go back to supporting local farmers, growers and producers who are experiencing hardship as a result of the drought. ”
