Community invited to meet Exchange Hotel new operators

Karl and Janine Bullers PIC: Shire of Murray

The Shire of Murray is hosting a community celebration to mark the first milestone of the new Exchange Hotel in Pinjarra.

The event will take place on Friday March 10 from 4:30pm-5:30pm at The Exchange Hotel, 10 George Street Pinjarra and marks the first opportunity members of the community can view the plans for the building and meet the new operators of the Exchange Hotel, Karl and Janine Bullers.

Guests will also be able to view the redevelopment plans, learn more about the future of the venue, and ask questions of the new operators.

There will be a free sausage sizzle and the new operators are also providing a licensed bar with all proceeds donated to the Pinjarra Women's Centre, a local organisation dedicated to supporting women and families in need.

Following the celebration, guests are welcome to stay and join in the Music on the Murray community event, which will be held from 5:30pm-7:30pm along the Murray River Foreshore.

The event will feature an evening of live music performed by Ricky Green with a continuation of free food and the licensed bar provided by The Exchange Hotel operators and their partners.

“The redevelopment of The Exchange Hotel is a monumental project for the Shire of Murray and we are thrilled to see the project kick off in earnest. The Bullers have an incredible vision for The Exchange Hotel that captures the heritage, history and character of our Shire and we can’t wait to share that with the community," Shire President Cr. David Bolt said.

The Exchange Hotel operator Karl Bullers said big things are in store for the building.

“We have big plans for this much-loved heritage building to bring it back to its former glories as a  major draw card for residents and visitors in Pinjarra and we look forward to sharing these plans with the community.”

Mr and Mrs Bullers already own the Old Courthouse and The National Hotel in Fremantle, which have both undergone significant transformations.

The historic Exchange Hotel closed its doors in 2008 and has remained untouched since the Shire of Murray Council purchased the site in 2012.
