Cooloongup Primary School students are now more familiar with the road rules after a visit to the Constable Care Road Safety School.
Located in Maylands, the Constable Care Safety School gives students a hands-on opportunity to learn about vital pedestrian, bicycle and public transport safety skills.
The facility is equipped with a purpose-built classroom complex and a realistic layout of Perth’s streets. It also features cutting-edge augmented reality in a simulated-risk environment that is designed to help students learn.
The school’s visit to the Constable Care Safety School was made possible thanks to a partnership the City of Rockingham shares with Constable Care. This agreement also facilitates the opportunity for Constable Care performances in every primary and secondary school in the Rockingham area.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said it was important for students to learn about road safety at an early age.
“Road trauma is a significant issue that all motorists and passengers in Western Australia need to be aware of, so it’s vital that our youngest residents become familiar with the rules on our roads,” Mayor Sammels said.
“While they may not be sitting behind the wheel yet, it is important for young students to know how to safely cross a busy intersection, hail a bus, spot hazards as a passenger in the car and to understand the rules around cyclists.
“The Constable Care Safety School experience highlights all of these important points and links them directly to the WA primary school curriculum.”
