A customer has been assaulted and a security guard threatened while trying to stop two alleged thieves at a Kwinana liquor store.
It is alleged two men entered the Dan Murphy's store on Challenger Avenue around 6.25pm on Tuesday and selected various cans of pre-mixed alcohol before attempting to leave the store without paying.
A security guard confronted the men at the front of the store before one of the offenders allegedly grabbed a bottle of alcohol and threatened to hit the guard with it.
A customer, who had just entered the store, tried to help the security guard but was allegedly hit in the face, leaving him with a chipped tooth.
Police were able to arrest one of the men a short time later.
The 29-year-old Kelmscott man will appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
The second man is still at large.
