The Federal Government today announced new grants for West Australians with disabilities to enable the growth of the National Disability Insurance Scheme workforce.
Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme Stuart Robert said up to $2.7 million of the projects will have a direct benefit on the growth of the WA workforce delivered by National Disability Services, Regional Disability Australia and the Summer Foundation.
He also said an additional $4.7 million of projects across Australia will support the growth of the overall WA workforce.
"These innovative projects are targeting key areas of priority, such as attracting school-leavers to the disability sector, trialling an innovative model of training, employing and supporting Aboriginal Therapy Assistants to support NDIS participants and increasing the supply of Specialist Disability Accommodation," Minister Robert said.
"The Morrison Government is proud to invest in projects that work at the grassroots level, driven by local organisations, to meet this workforce demand and ensure Western Australians with disability, their families and carers get the support they need."
The grants will run over two financial years from 2019-20 to 2020-21.
