Land is now available for purchase at the Peel Business Park, a new major jobs precinct for industrial and agricultural investment in Nambeelup.
Peel Industrial Park, which has been in planning for more than a decade, today saw the fist blocks of land at the location released for sale.
The12 lots represent the first allotment within the 120-hectare first stage, which forms part of the wider 1,000-hectare park.
Lands Minister Rita Saffioti said the release of the first lots was a flagship project of the newly formed Industrial Land Authority within LandCorp, Peel Development Commission and the Shire of Murray.
“Unlocking industrial land close to key road and rail infrastructure is integral to the McGowan Government’s plan for more jobs and getting the WA economy back on track," she said.
“The Peel region will play a major part in that plan due to its population growth and strategic proximity to the South-West region and the ports of Fremantle, Kwinana and Bunbury.
“The first release of land in the Peel Business Park is an exciting milestone for the wider Transform Peel initiative, which aims to attract investment in the region.”
An earlier expression of interest project showed early demand for the lots, with nine agri-businesses or general industrial companies wanting to relocate or start new businesses at Peel Business Park.
Construction and land development of stage one is expected to create more than 300 jobs, with a further 160 permanent jobs for the Peel region once the first stage is fully operational.
Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the Peel Region was one step closer to becoming a major agri-business and innovation hub in WA.
“The Peel Industrial Park will be an incubator for new and emerging industries across a broad range of sectors including agriculture, research and development and technology enterprises and well as general and light industrial and commercial business," she said.
“The State Government has committed $45 million towards the development of supporting infrastructure in the Peel Business Park to underpin the economic prosperity in the Peel region and create hundreds of much-needed jobs.”
Part of stage one will be the construction of a renewable energy micro grid, which is expected to be one of the largest for an industrial development in Australia. The lots will also have high-speed internet and reticulated gas services from the Bunbury to Dampier gas pipeline.
In November, LandCorp will be awarding the first construction contract for the trunk infrastructure works with planned commencement in early 2019.
