Internal Affairs Unit officers have charged a 45 year old male former Police Sergeant with one count of Common Assault.
The charges come after a review of an incident that occurred on 3rd September, 2017.
It will be alleged that the man, who was then a police officer, assaulted a male during an arrest in Fremantle.
The officer resigned from the WA Police Force in July 2018.
He will appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on 28 June 2019.
