Fourteen men, who have connections to outlaw motorcycle gangs, have been charged over their alleged involvement in a riot that broke out at a licensed venue in Silver Sands on 14 January 2025.
About 3.25pm, a violent altercation broke out in the front bar of a tavern on Mandurah Terrace between two rival OMCG members and associates.
It will be alleged; over the course of several minutes, both parties armed themselves with pool cues, chairs and billiard balls.
At the time of the altercation, a number of staff members and members of the public were within the venue and visibly distressed by the unfolding violence.
On Wednesday, 15 January 2025, officers from the Gang Crime Squad executed 13 searches across the Perth metropolitan region.
As a result of an extensive investigation, 12 men have been charged with one count each of ‘Taking Part in a Riot’.
A 41-year-old man has been charged with one count each of ‘Fighting in Public to Cause Fear’ and ‘Being Armed in a Way that May Cause Fear’.
A 43-year-old man will be charged by summons with one count of ‘Fighting in Public to Cause Fear’.
The Officer in Charge of the Gang Crime Squad, Detective Senior Sergeant Anthony Thompson said:
“This display of violence shows a blatant disregard for the safety of the wider community. To have people fearing for their safety while out enjoying their day-to-day activities is completely unacceptable."
“As demonstrated by the number of people charged and volume of warrants executed this week; we will not tolerate OMCG related violence at any level."
"We will continue to use the full suite of powers available to us to disrupt the anti-social and violent behaviours associated with OMCGs."
“This is another reminder to the community that OMCGs are not harmless motorcycle clubs, they are violent criminal gangs causing harm and disruption across our country.”
Inquiries remain ongoing.
