Local sport and recreation engagement projects can now apply for $5000 as part of the State Government's Targeted Participation Program.
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in partnership with Healthway is hoping the funding will target groups within the community who generally have low participation rates in sport and active recreation.
These groups include disengaged youth, Indigenous people, seniors and culturally and linguistically diverse people.
Sports and Recreation Minister Mick Murray said the TPP is designed to involve people and groups who often miss out on the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sport and active recreation.
"These benefits include increased wellbeing, resilience and self-esteem - all of which come from being involved and connected to your community," he said.
"The programs funded by the TPP are more important than ever as people look to reconnect to the community and get active following the unprecedented disruptions to our normal way of life experienced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic."
Local community organisations and sport and recreation clubs can apply for Category 3 grants, which close September 28.
