A Geraldton man has been charged with animal cruelty after he broke into a home in Spearwood on Saturday.
Nebojsa and Tahnee Vuksan were in Sydney for the weekend when their home was broken into, leaving their beloved pug dead.
Police will allege that the 29-year-old broke in sometime between 3.30am and 4am and stole multiple items, before throwing the Vuksan's eight-month-old pug Coco over a fence.
Neighbours found Coco dead a short time later.
Police will also allege the Geraldton man pushed over a woman in her 70s and stole her handbag while walking through Bavich Park around 12.40pm on Saturday.
He is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrate's Court today with a number of charges including animal cruelty and aggravated burglary.
