Member for Canning Andrew Hastie has called a community meeting next week to address a foul odour plaguing several local suburbs.
The issue has been ongoing for over a year now, with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation receiving thousands of complaints from residents in Lakelands, Singleton, Secret Harbour and surrounding areas.
An investigation in February 2024 found the smell was coming from C-Wise, a liquid waste and compost manufacturing facility and CM Farms, a piggery.
In March, both businesses were issued with Environmental Protection Notices which ordered them to rectify the odour issues, but locals say the smell still lingers.
A Facebook group called Lakelands and Surrounds Stink now has over 750 members.
Mr Hastie said it is time something is done.
"We're after a solution, we want people here in Mandurah to live happily without a stench around their homes and we also want businesses to to thrive, so it's a matter of working out what is the best way forward and the starting point is getting the community together," Mr Hastie said.
Mr Hastie said everyone is welcome to attend the Stop the Stink community meeting on Thursday, April 17 at 6pm at the Lakes Theatre, Mandurah Baptist College.
"All our welcome and it's an opportunity for you to express your concerns," he said.
"I've also invited the Minster for Environment to come along, someone from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DEWR) and I've also invited the Member for Murray-Wellington David Bolt in which Nambeelup is part of his seat."
Attendees are encouraged to register here.
