One of K9 Rescue's long-term residents is in desperate need of a loving home after spending nearly two-years at the Mandurah shelter.
Poppy arrived at K9 as a victim of backyard breeding and gave birth to her puppies in foster care.
Her pups have since been adopted but Poppy is still waiting for her forever home.
Due to a few previous medical conditions, she is available as a permanent foster rather than a standard adoption.
A K9 Rescue spokesperson said while these conditions do not impact Poppy's day-to-day life, it does make potential adopters hesitate.
“Because of Poppy’s prior health considerations, she is available for permanent foster. That means there is no adoption fee, and K9 will cover the cost of veterinary treatment related to her prior conditions for life," the K9 spokesperson said.
“We want people to know that Poppy can still live a very happy and fulfilling life in the right home.
“Poppy’s future family will not be taking this on alone. K9 will continue to support her existing medical needs, so her permanent foster family can focus on giving her the love, comfort and stability she deserves.
“Poppy would love a home where she can be close to her people, included in daily life and finally enjoy the comfort of a home environment again.”
Poppy is often described as the “resident queen bee” and is known for her huge personality.
She thrives on human interaction and would suit a home where someone is around more often than not.
