Nominations for the Rockingham local government elections have now closed, with 30 candidates set to represent their community.

Six councillor positions will be decided - each holding a four year term - with two in the Baldivis Ward, one in the Comet Bay Ward and three in the Rockingham/Safety Bay Ward.

Those elected will form a part of the 11 person council.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said it was encouraging to see a diverse range of people step forward to represent the City.

“Local government elections are a terrific opportunity for residents to put themselves forward and represent the community,” Mayor Sammels said.

“For Council to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible it’s crucial that the diverse and wide ranging viewpoints from across the community are represented.”

Residents should expect their voting packages between September 26 and October 7, otherwise are advised to visit the City of Rockingham Administration building to collect a replacement.

The local government elections are held every two years with this years votes to be counted on Saturday October 19, 2019.
