Local sporting clubs will now have access to improved sporting facilities in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

The $3.9 million upgrades at the Briggs Park precinct were officially opened at a community sports day, which saw more than 200 parents and children attend for free sports and activities.

For the first time, sport will be able to be played on both ovals, with new light towers installed and old one's replaced.

Other upgrades included fixing drainage issues, the addition of a new cricket pitch, multi-use tee-ball and cricket nets and new goal posts on both ovals.

Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale President Michelle Rich thanked local sporting clubs for their patience during the process.

“It is fantastic that our local sporting clubs now have access to modern, purpose-built facilities to support them to grow their clubs and help them be successful on and off the field,” Rich said.

“The upgrades also mean the park’s two ovals can now be used year-round, with the option of hosting much larger competitions and events."

Briggs Park is currently home to Byford Bushrangers Tee-ball Club, Mundijong Centrals Junior Football Club and Serpentine Jarrahdale Cricket Club, who combined have more than 1000 members.
