An 18-year-old man has been charged over an incident at a Mandurah high school.

Police say they received a report of two "unregistered visitors" entering John Tonkin College on Education Drive in Greenfields around 11am on Tuesday, May 27.

The pair had been involved in an altercation before the school placed the campus into lockdown.

The neighbouring South Metropolitan TAFE campus was also sent into lockdown.

"Staff members instructed the unregistered visitors to leave the school grounds, and they left the area," a WA Police spokesperson said.

"Nobody was injured during the incident."

An 18-year-old has since been charged with one count of being armed or pretending to be armed in a way that may cause fear and one count of trespass.

He is due to appear before the Mandurah Magistrates Court on June 24.
